The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) imposed electronic logging device (ELD) mandate is all set to come into effect on December 18. All efforts to delay or stall the mandate have been rejected despite the efforts put in by several trucking groups like the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA).
The truckers, however, have refused to give up yet. A couple of unaffiliated trucking groups are planning to stage protests spanning a period of 4-5days in Washington, D.C. commencing from October 3.
A Facebook group by the name ELD or Me was started in May by trucker Tony Justice in opposition to the ELD. The group will be participating in the protests near the White House between October 3rd to the 7th. The group is trying to meet and discuss the impending mandate with Congressional Representatives.
Yet another Facebook group, Operation Black and Blue, will also be staging protests against the ELD mandate. The members of the group are urging truckers to shut down and participate in the rally.
